Best Restaurants in Midtown: Discover Zócalo’s Charm

Midtown Atlanta brings together a wide range of dining experiences—from Southern comfort food and Italian cuisine to Asian specialties, Mediterranean dishes, barbecue, and Mexican food, the neighborhood has something to suit different tastes and occasions.

With so many choices, finding a place that combines good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a sense of local character matters.

Zócalo’s been part of Midtown since 1995. Our family-owned Mexican restaurant brings together traditional flavors, recipes inspired by our heritage, and the kind of hospitality that makes people feel at home. Here's what sets us apart in Midtown's dining scene.

Part of Midtown Atlanta Since 1995

Our story is closely connected to the neighborhood. Since opening in 1995, we've welcomed Midtown residents, local workers, visitors, and families looking for Mexican food and a lively place to gather.

As a family-owned business, we bring a personal approach to the dining experience. Our connection to Mexican food comes through in the recipes, ingredients, and dishes we prepare, while our team works to make every visit comfortable and enjoyable.

Midtown continues to grow and change, but our goal remains the same: to share the flavors of Mexican cuisine and welcome our community around the table.

Mexican Food With Countless Choices

Our menu includes familiar Mexican favorites alongside dishes with different ingredients and preparations. A few options to explore:

  • Tableside Guacamole: Prepared at your table, with your choice of mild or spicy.
  • Birria Tacos: Pulled beef barbacoa cooked with dried peppers and Mexican spices, served in a semi-crispy tortilla with melted cheese, onions, and cilantro. Consommé is available separately.
  • Taco Gobernador: Sautéed shrimp with roasted poblano peppers, melted cheese, bacon, and chipotle-garlic salsa.

  • Baja Fish Tacos: Crispy tempura cod topped with chipotle mayo, Mexican slaw, and avocado.
  • Molcajete Carmelita: A dish made for sharing, with grilled steak, tomatillo sauce, chorizo, grilled onions, roasted serranos, and asadero cheese, served with your choice of tortillas.

These choices represent different sides of our menu, from seafood and tacos to a hearty specialty designed for the table. Whether you already have a favorite or want to try something new, there's room to explore.

Margaritas, Mexican Cocktails, and More

Drinks are another key part of the Zócalo experience. Our cocktail menu includes several margarita styles, from the classic Zócalo Margarita to fruity options such as mango, strawberry, passionfruit, and dragon fruit.

For guests who prefer a little heat, the Spicy Margarita features serrano peppers, while the Mezcalita Picante combines Espadín mezcal with muddled serrano. You can also choose a Mojito, Mezcal Mule, Michelada, or Sangria.

For groups, our tequila and flavored margarita shot towers bring a group-friendly option to the table. We also have zero-proof mocktails, including Dragon Fruit, Cucumber & Mint, and Mango-Pineapple.

A Place to Gather in Midtown

Good food is only part of what defines a dining experience. Zócalo’s setting brings people together for weeknight dinners, celebrations, drinks with friends, and meals before or after exploring Midtown.

Our Mexican-inspired decor and open-air patio add to the atmosphere, while our menu gives groups plenty to choose from. You can share appetizers, order individual entrees, or gather around a larger dish like our Molcajete Carmelita.
